When we discuss the ongoing space race, countries with developed programmes come to mind, such as the U.S., Russia, China, Japan, the European Union and even India. In other words, the usual "suspects" do not normally include Latin American states. Certainly, countries like Argentina, Brazil, Peru or Mexico do not have the capabilities to send a person to space (much less the Moon or Mars). Nevertheless these nations have vibrant and growing space programmes.
