摘要

Poland still does not know what parameters and capabilities the successor of the BMP-1 should have, meaning further delays in the BORSUK project. The replacement of the BMP-1 Soviet-era tracked IFVs is one of the current top priorities for Poland's land forces. The BMP-1 is, without a doubt, a very successful construction, but currently it is completely obsolete, as Poland has never had an opportunity to acquire the newer BMP-2 - two upgrade proposals, the BWP-2000 of Bumar Labedy from the 1990s and the newer PUMA, have not been implemented. The current vehicles possess very thin armour, which, along with the main armament (2A28 GROM 73mm gun), make the BMP-1 unsuitable to face contemporary threats, such as anti-tank tandem warheads like those possessed by better armoured vehicles.
