The Turkish defence and aerospace industry has reached a high degree of self-sufficiency (local content ratio reached to 54% in 2013 and around 60% in 2014). Most notably, almost all of the Turkish Land Forces' (TLF), Gendarmerie General Command's (GGC), and Security General Directorate's (SGD, Turkish Police) requirements for tracked and wheeled armoured vehicles are now being met indigenously, with the next target in this field being the design, development and manufacture of a Gen3+ MBT and a new generation armoured combat vehicle. As a prominent maker of wheeled and tracked armoured vehicles, the Turkish industry is seeking to double their current export figures, and to this end they have identified the Middle East, Far East, Africa and Turkic Republics as key potential markets for Turkish-produced armoured vehicles.
