Throughout the years, tactical operations have changed the procurement and requirements for wheeled armoured vehicles. The previous assumptions of vehicle needs and specifications are no longer applicable, which complicates the scenario for manufacturers. Now, vehicle manufacturers will need leaner operations and forays into niche markets to sustain growth. The scramble begins anew for a newer breed of armoured vehicles, which are not only lighter and with more off-road mobility, but also offering the same or better level of protection such as MRAP. This report looks at some of the armoured vehicles currently in development and already in service.
