摘要

Short stories and related genres (tales, legends, fables, parables, etc.), have been for centuries, in all cultures, an important instrument of communication. They have been used to convey wisdom, knowledge, entertainment, ethics and spiritual enlightenment. Teaching French at college level we have experienced that short stories, both as reading assignments and working tools, may be significantly useful for developing written and oral expression. And if they are well chosen, their content may be particularly stimulating for conveying culture and values.
