Innovative suction tube allows energy saving in ring spinning

The Swiss Federal Energy Agency awarded its prestigious Watt d'Or energy prize for the 7~(th) time on January 10, 2013. Rieter Machine Works Ltd., Winterthur/Switzerland, was the winner of the special award for export products. The new suction tube ECOrized for the ring spinning machine impressed the jury. For decades, Rieter has focused on energy saving in its new developments. This is not only one of the most important environmental factors, it is also a major component of sustained cost reductions in yarn production. Every opportunity to save energy, however small, makes itself felt immediately in production costs. The innovative optimization of the extraction system by means of the ECOrized suction tube (Fig. 1) now enables the total power consumption of the ring spinning machine to be reduced by a remarkable 8-10 % (Fig. 2), with no effect on running behavior or yarn quality.
