PHYSIOLOGIE DU VIEILLISSEMENT : RÉFÉRENCES HÉMATOLOGIQUES ET IMMUNOLOGIQUES

The normal aging of the hemopoietic system and its consequences on normal hematological values observed in elderly healthy persons are described. Minor changes of the hemopoiesis may occur during normal aging. These modifications become particularly evident in the cose of external stimulation. In such situations, hemopoietic modifications unexpected at basal state can he observed. However, any unexplained abnormality in an elderly apparently healthy person should arouse the suspicion of an underlying disease.%Ce texte résume les connaissances actuelles sur le vieillissement physiologique du système hématopoïétique et sur les modifications qui en découlent pour les valeurs normales du sujet âgé. Des changements mineurs du système hématopoïétique surviennent au cours du vieillissement et se manifestent surtout par une réponse à une stimulation externe perturbée. Ainsi donc ces anomalies, souvent inapparentes à l'état de base peuvent se manifester lorsque la fonction hématopoïétique est amplifiée par une stimulation. Cependant toute modification des valeurs hématologiques doit, jusqu'à preuve du contraire, faire suspecter une pathologie sous-jacente.
