Cloning adds to industry controversy

The last year has been a difficult one for the food processing industry. During the past 14 months, the number of meat recalls has skyrocketed, with meat processing companies trying to round up some 30 million pounds of ground beef.rnOn the FDA side, things haven't been good either, particularly given the pet food recall early last year after a number of dogs and cats died as a result of ingesting food made with ingredients from overseas. That situation set off a controversy over imported ingredients in foods, not only those for pets but for human foods as well. That controversy hasn't died down yet, with government agencies studying what kind of substances, especially from China, are causing problems when added to processed food.
