Coconut name giving for DCI Dredge XXI

On 8 August 2013 the DCI Dredge XXI was named and afterwards launched at IHC Merwede Kinderdijk, the Netherlands. The trailing suction hopper dredger was built for the dredging company Dredging Corporation of India Ltd. During a traditional Hindu ceremony the dredger was named by Mrs. Mohanty, the spouse of the managing director of DCI, by breaking a coconut on the bow of the vessel. Mr. Mohanty also broke a coconut, wishing stability, prosperity and well-being among other things for the vessel. In Hinduism breaking a coconut represents the symbolical overcoming of any possible setback for the ship.
