Last month, a House-Senate con-ference approved the Commerce Justice State spending bill for Fiscal Year 2002. The bill includes $224.7 million for the U.S. Maritime Administration, which is $123.7 million above the Bush Administration request and $8.6 million more than last year. The conferees funded the Title XI shipbuilding loan guarantee program at $33 million, with $7 million that rolls over, that adds up to funding for about $800 million of shipbuilding.
