PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To present a title of a news manuscript in a natural language sentence easy to understand.;SOLUTION: A news topic title extracting device comprises: a take-out means for taking out a news manuscript belonging to a set of similar news topics from a file device for storing a plurality of news manuscripts; a description extracting means for extracting a specific pattern from the news manuscripts taken out by the take-out means, extracting all of specific pattern descriptions which are noun phrases included in the extracted specific pattern, from one news topic, taking the average of feature vectors of the extracted specific pattern descriptions and extracting a specific pattern description having a feature vector most similar to the average vector; a determining means for determining whether the specific pattern extracted by the description extracting means appears at a fixed rate or more in one news topic; and a title extracting means for extracting the specific pattern description corresponding to the specific pattern, as the title of the news topic when the determining means determines that the specific pattern appears at the fixed rate or more.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
