Demonstrating success at INEC

Technology in Transition, the 2004 edition of the annual INEC conference, which took place in March in Amsterdam, provided an interesting insight into a number of marine technologies, notably those required for the development of 'all electric' warships. As authors from the UK Ministry of Defence, the DGA in France, and contractor Alstom Power Conversion Ltd explained, in the UK the Electric Ship Technology Demonstrator facility is currently being used to test advanced Integrated Full Electric Propulsion techniques. Jointly funded by the UK Ministry of Defence and French DGA, and operated by Alstom Power Conversion Ltd, the facility has now been conducting testing for over one year and has already produced results that would not have been possible without actual hardware testing.
