Customised test engine offers double advantage

Lubmarine has installed a novel test engine at Total's Research Centre (CRES) at Solaize, near Lyons, France. The US$2M MAN B7W Innovator-4C test engine replaces the previous test-bench engine (Pielstick PC2.6) first installed at Solaize 20 years ago and extensively modified in 1994 to cope with changing development needs. According to the company, the engine is already engaged in 'fundamental marine lubricants research'.
