Although Jonathan Spremulli has been technical manager with the ICS for less than half a year, it is evident that he has found his niche. He lights up when talking about his work, which involves conveying the views of ICS members at the IMO and negotiating with the authorities to ensure 'pragmatic' regulation. "As I'm a marine engineer who also studied naval architecture, I really enjoy getting involved with the in-depth technical discussions at IMO," he says. "I already had IMO experience in my previous role as general manager for the Liberian Registry and the new position allows me to delve further into topics many of which had already sparked my interest during my three years representing the flag state."
