Costco plans Australian store

Costco Wholesale Corp. plans to open its first store in Australia in 2009. Costco is the fourth-largest retailer in the United States. The first store is awaiting approval from the Department of Planning and Community Development in that country. It will be located in Melbourne and will measure 12,000 to 14,000 square meters. The company expects to open an additional 13 stores in countries they do not currently operate in.
