New york, NY-- Today's mail center em-ployees need to be computer-literate and au-tomation-savvy, and giving them these skills is the responsibility of front-line managers. Successful managers know how to guide their employees and delegate responsibility. However, before this can happen, the employee needs to be properly trained. Managers can help themselves by duplicating the teaching tool now being employed by coaches at the high school and college levels who have found that their players learn and retain more information when they are forced to "coach" others. This type of training is slightly more intensive than cross-training, because it requires more than once-a-month shadowing: it requires being a teacher.
