E-mail and instant messaging (IM) are absolutely irreplaceable in our daily business and personal life. Employees, contractors, partners, vendors, analysts, family, friends, news outlets, even Web sites all generate more and more e-mail and IMs to keep us up-to-date, ask or answer questions, touch base, and distribute or receive information. However, while extremely convenient, these systems are getting overused, misused, and sometimes even abused. What does this mean for the IT staff responsible for keeping these platforms operating at work? It means a IM working.
