Ralph Copnall writes: A clarification on the excellent article on the Central Argentine PS11 Caprotti Pacifics. The confusion between the designations PS11 and 12L is simple. The Central Argentine loco classification was PS11, meaning passenger superheated type 11. That was its only designation on the Central Argentine and its successor, General Mitre Line. The 12L designation was only ever applied to the second series locos on the General Roca line (ie the old Buenos Aires Great Southern, and followed their usual practice (See DS Purdom's British Steam on the Pampas).
