BV marries its marine and process cultures for Colombia FLNG scheme

Bureau Veritas (BV) has been appointed as the class society for the floating liquefaction regasification and storage unit (FLRSU) being built for Pacific Rubiales and positioning on the Colombian Caribbean coast. BV will class the entire project, including hull and process plant, and provide the FLRSU with its PROcess Classification (PROC) notation, an initiative which integrates the topside facilities into the scope of the classification. "The application of the PROC notation to a floating LNG unit is a significant step forward for the operators," states Bruno Dabouis, BV's vice president marketing & sales. "It brings process equipment under the scrutiny of class inspectors during the construction phase. This, in turn, provides reassurance that class standards are applied to the equipment that is key to uninterrupted project performance.
