TTC Chair unveils ambitious new Toronto plans

ON 27 June, Karen Stintz, Chair of the Toronto Transit Commission and seeming victor in the fight with anti-tram mayor Rob Ford, unveiled a CAD30bn (EUR24bn) 'OneCity' plan for future transit development. It sets out 170km (105 miles) of rail transit expansion over 30 years, to be financed through an uplift current-value assessment property taxes that would bring in CAD272m/year (EUR220m).
