Design drawings for the 27 Alstom Metropolis metro trains that will run on the 25.6km (15.9-mile) standard-gauge elevated line in the Indian city of Kochi were unveiled on 4 September. The line is to open in 2016. Alstom's Design & Styling department in Saint-Ouen, France, worked in collaboration with operator Kochi Metro Rail Ltd and TATA Elxsi; the design includes front LED lights in the shape of elephant tusks. A three-car set is 65m long with 136 seats in each train and capacity for 975 passengers.
