Midland Metro Alliance applies to build Birmingham Eastside extension

The UK's Midland Metro Alliance has applied for authorisation to build and operate the 1.7km (1.05-mile) Birmingham Eastside extension. A Transport St Works Act Order, bid for on behalf of the West Midlands Combined Authority, would allow work to start on the Midland Metro extension from Bull Street to Digbeth to serve the proposed High Speed 2 station at Curzon Street. The new GBP137.2m (EUR152.3m) tram extension would be operational by 2023.
