Stop conflating collections with technology (Aaron Schmidt, "Focus on People, Not Tools," The User Experience, LJ 6/1/13, p. 32). If you really want to get back to "values" then you need to reemphasize the long, rich, historical, three-way relationship of librarians, users/researchers, and collections. It has always been a tripartite relationship, and all the rest is just extra.
