E-books at BookExpo in New York

E-books have struggled for a number of years to become a visible and viable part of the publishing landscape. This year at BookExpo 2009 they seemed to finally turn the comer becoming a more established part of the scene although their future is still a bit cloudy. The BookExpo conference and exhibit was held at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, 29-31 May The exhibit featured both the e-books available from many publishers, the companies producing readers for e-books and companies available to produce and distribute e-books for publishers. E-books are still less than 5 per cent of the total book sales, but they are a fast growing part of the market.
