Mr James Boston's letter published in your March issue calls for a response. In my long experience in the trade I learned that the great majority of quality and weight claims on raw material is based on reality. Some- times they are exaggerated and in rare occasions they are frivolous and unjustified, but all this is not confined to Italian tanners and it happens all over the world including in the UK.
