American steer prices rose more than 5%, reaching an all time high two weeks before the Hong Kong leather fair. However, just prior to and immediately afterwards, prices for most selections stabilised. During the Hong Kong fair, and in the week leading up to and following, a majority of US exporters visited their Asian customers for face-to-face meetings. Many had thought this would result in sizeable sales but this was not the case.
