After hitting record highs in the last report, prices drifted lower in the ensuing four weeks. Steers were the most resilient, while the cow sector weakened. The Chinese Golden Week celebrations curtailed business considerably in early October, as Chinese buying interest evaporated. Even when it came back, it was not with any gusto. Only recently did buying interest, albeit at lower levels, pick up somewhat.
