THE RISE OF ORGANIZATIONAL ANTHROPOLOGY

The practice of organizations (business and otherwise) hiring anthropologists is well established and continues to grow in strength and recognition. A number of chapters by different contributors on various aspects of this topic have been collected into A Companion to Organizational Anthropology, published in 2013. The volume was edited by D. Douglas Caulkins and Ann T. Jordan. Caulkins is professor emeritus of anthropology at Grinnell College, and Jordan is professor of anthropology at University of North Texas. Within the volume, the pair coauthored the chapter "Expanding the Field of Organizational Anthropology for the Twenty-First Century"; Caulkins coauthored (with Peter Rosa) "Entrepreneurship Studies" and (with Joan A. Tucker) "Sustaining Social Sector Organizations"; and Jordan wrote "Globalization, Modernization, and Complex Organizations."
