Vivo, the Brazil-based joint venture of Spain s Telefonica and Portugal Telecom, is planning to launch a full buyout offer for Telemig Celular after acquiring 53.9 percent of the Brazilian company. In August 2007, Telemig expressed its willingness to be acquires by Vivo Participacoes, the biggest mobile operator of the country. Vivo paid around $673.8 million for buying the stake. The company now plans to launch an obligatory offer to bag Telemig Celuar s voting rights at 80 percent of the earlier price.
