VTR defers its mobile entry until 2012 Chile-based landline and broadband service provider VTR has postponed the launch of its mobile entry until 2012. The chief executive of VTR's parent firm, Liberty Global Inc., said that mobile services are being planned for the first quarter of 2012. VTR acquired a license in September 2009 to get 30MHz airwaves within the 1800- and 2100MHz bands. China-based Huawei and the US chipmaker Qualcomm are deploying this mobile network, which was originally slated for launch this year. VTR was the second-biggest telecom operator of the country as of March 2011, with a market share of 37.4 percent.
