Chile's Department of Telecommunications (Subtel) announced that Telcordia has won the contract to again administer number portability for a period of five years from August 2016. This follows the tender announced in August 2015. Telcordia has been managing number portability in Chile since 2011. Portability has grown over the course of four years by more than 100 percent. In 2012, the rate was at 3.0 percent, corresponding to 3.1 percent for mobile and 1.9 percent for fixed telephony. Today, four years later, the estimated overall percentage is 7.5 percent, for a total of over 5 million portings.
