Claro Brasil and Swedish vendor Ericsson have reportedly staged a 5G demonstration at the Futurecom 2016 exhibition in Sao Paulo. The public test utilized four 100MHz channels in the 15GHz band (14.7GHz-15.1 GHz), as authorized by the National Telecommunications Agency (Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicacoes, Anatel). Exame.com quotes Andre Sarcinelli, Claro Brasil's director of engineering, as saying: 'Anatel only authorized the use of the 15GHz band here, if we could demonstrate [5G] in the I open'. The demonstration achieved throughput of 4.5Gbps, the report adds, with Claro and Ericsson confident that future tests using the same spectrum band will be able to deliver transmission speeds of up to 12Gbps.
