The vast majority of the stream stabilization designs in the Mid-Atlantic region consist of some arrangement of readily acceptable stabilization techniques (e.g., cross-vanes, J-hook vanes, stone weirs, etc.). The primary reasons being: When designed and installed correctly, they work; They are generally accepted approaches by the regulatory agencies, which simplifies the permitting process; and They have a documented history of success which provides a heightened level of confidence for the land owner/client.
