Back in 1976, Nick Brown was a keen traveller who just wanted to keep his boots dry. Today, he owns and runs a business that has just won a Queen's Award for Enterprise, International Trade, for achieving dramatic growth in its waterproofing products business. Originally known as "Nick's Wax", Brown came up with the idea for his formula on a hiking trip in Scotland because he wanted to make his boots waterproof without softening them and losing support. He then realized the formula could be applied to a wide range of other outdoor garments and has since developed a comprehensive range of products, which are suitable for all technical footwear, clothing and equipment.
