摘要

Effect of primary particle size and aggregates on the characteristics of the green and sintered bodies was studied in alumina ceramics. Alumina powders of submicron size were prepared with an attrition mill of recirculating stirred media type at various dispersing conditions Reduced particle size decreases the pore size of the green body and increases the relative density and the bending strength of the sintered body. The relevance of particles size on the fracture-initiating defects is discussed.
