It is my great privilege to be the first President of the AIPN from South America, and it gives me great pleasure to introduce this Latin America Special Edition of the Journal of World Energy Law & Business. The AIPN was founded back in 1981 in Houston, Texas, when it started simply as a 'lunch club', where a group of petroleum negotiators met to share information and experiences. Now it has evolved into a truly international association with vibrant regional chapters and events around the world. Our mission is to support international energy negotiators around the world by enhancing their effectiveness and professionalism in the international energy community. Members come from various disciplines, commercial, technical, academic and legal, representing IOCs, NOCs, law firms, consultants, students, as well as National and International Governments.
