A Sideways Look at Bedford Cord-4

This is the fourth article in a series of articles developing fabric design ideas using a Weft Bedford Cord Structure multiple sectioned sample blanket published in The Journal 214 (June 2005). One of the experiments I chose to try on the original multiple-sectioned sample blanket was to weave the classic Weft Bedford Cord structure 'Back Up'. I also developed the basic two-cord structure into a four-cord structure in twill order. I called this wefting 'Twilled Bedford Cord'. One of the aspects that I like about Weft Bedford Cord is its tight functional plain weave face. Obviously weaving Bedford Cord 'Back Up' means that the long floating back ends come to the front. Functionality is lost to some extent, but additional texture has been gained.
