Ultrasound as point of care in management of polytraumarnand its complication

Purpose Traumatic injuries constitute a major risk forrnpatients in emergency units. Point-of-care ultrasound mayrnbe a determinant in reducing the deleterious impact ofrncomplications and in prognosis.rnMethods We describe the case of a 28-year-old femalernwho reported cranial trauma, abdominal and thoracicrntrauma, and suspected bilateral fracture of the femur.rnResults Ultrasound was useful for evaluating and monitoringrnmultiple organ failure.rnConclusion Combining cost-effective advantages withrnbedside real-time imaging, ultrasound is a powerful adjunctrnto standard clinical assessment in the management ofrnpolytrauma when it is administered at the point of care.
