Magnetic particles have been extensively studied in the field of biomedical and biotechnological applications,including drug delivery,biosensors,chemical and biochemical separation and concentration of trace amounts of specific targets,such as bacteria or leukocytes,enzyme encapsulation,and contrast enhancement in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).In most applications,spherical nanoparticles have been used.However,spherical magnetic nanoparticles still need to be improved for controlling particle sizes,surface functionalizations,and their environmental compatibility due to the structural limitation of spherical particles when multifunctionality is required on their surfaces.
