Globalization is an intensively researched subject. Numerous papers and books have been written about it and its drivers, processes, and impacts. What does Naoki Yoshihara's book offer? Over the space of ten chapters, accompanied by an eight-page prologue, a ten-page epilogue, and detailed endnotes, Yoshihara reassesses the advance of globalization and its impact on phenomena of time and space. He uses the time-space metaphor and the notion of "fluidity and place" (p. 1) to unpack the global-local binary.
