This book has a very short historical introduction followed by 'then and now' photographs with brief descriptions. The initial 72 pages of mostly post-1923 photographs take the reader along the whole line from the original Haverhill (later South) terminus with illustrations of features and staff via Halstead to the eastern end. The author includes the two junction stations at the eastern end which were used by the Colne Valley but were GER property.
