Planning for Schools Development-Consultation Paper

The Consultation Paper issued in October consider whether classes of development within the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987 (as amended) should be given permitted development rights to change use to a school; and if so, which classes should have that right attached to them. The Coalition Government's Programme for Government made a commitment to give parents, teachers, charities and local communities the chance to set up new schools. The Conservative Party's "Open Source Planning" Green Paper outlined its proposals for the planning system to help facilitate the delivery of schools.
