Business Student Perceptions of Environmental Sustainability: Examining the Job Search Implications

摘要

The empirical evidence offered by this study bolsters previous anecdotal findings that being responsive to environmental concerns may play a role in an organization's efforts to acquire human capital. While qualitative responses underscored that sustainability beliefs and records are unlikely to be the main driving force in most job search intentions (particularly in a tight job market), the results do strongly suggest that when individuals have job choice or when they see blatant disregard for the environment, their beliefs regarding environment sustainability will play a role in their search intentions. Hopefully, these findings will encourage organizations to pursue a "win-win scenario" where their environmental practices benefit both the environment as well as their efforts to attract and retain top talent.
