An innovative type of a cable-stayed bridge girder is put forward in this paper: The composite space truss girder, which offers an economic solution (much less steel consuming compared with other systems), and an easy type of construction. The new idea, advantage, and technical feasibilities of the bridge structure are discussed. To examine the structural performance of the proposed system, a comparative study for a real cable-stayed bridge with a steel box girder (Suez Canal Bridge) is carried out in this study. Both linear and nonlinear analyses are followed under dead, live, wind, and temperature loads. The results of the study verified the structural superiority of the new proposed system in addition to its economy merits. Finally, a spotlight on the cost considerations of the new system is also mentioned.
