RETROSPECTIVES ON CONCRETE SHELLS: PREFACE

摘要

The publication of the IASS Jubilee Book, Fifty Years of Progress for Shell and Spatial Structures, [1] in 2011 has been a significant step in documenting the recent history and current status of this field of structural and architectural development. But it is not the only effort by the IASS as is evidenced from two recent special issues of the Journal of the IASS devoted to the works of two notable pioneers in the design and building of concrete shells, Felix Candela [2] and Heinz Isler [3]. And a third special issue about Pier Luigi Nervi is planned for September 2013.
