An Effective Image Reuse Approach for Product Styling

摘要

We present an easy-to-use image reshaping technique for car styling to support creative design. A model-based approach is taken to achieve globally consistent effects by integrating a morphable model represented in 2D parametric wireframe into the reshaping process. A part-based and structure-aware image warping approach is introduced to reliably transfer the reshaping effects from the model to the image. Using the platform we developed, even inexperienced users can easily render a sketch with a desired reference car image. The platform provides users both global and local manipulation tools to reshape the reference car, which takes designers only a few seconds rather than hours or days as before. More experienced designers can refine their designs by picking up final renderings and associated CAS models in parametric curves. Though applied to on automobile, our method can be used for and extended to develop other products.
