摘要

There have been several studies in the past exploring the importance and need of establishing Storage - Yield relationships for a given reliability. To establish this, one needs to opt for one of the many approaches, for determining the storage capacity of a hypothetical reservoir, being considered in the area under study. This study here compares the relative results given by four popular methods of storage capacity estimation of a reservoir namely, Sequent peak algorithm, Behaviour Analysis, Gould-Dincer gamma method and Vogel & Stedinger empirical method for India. A unique national datasets of 156 rivers spread across the entire country was compiled. Only virgin flows were considered with 7 or more years of consistent record. Storages for hypothetical reservoirs for each of the sites were calculated using all the four approaches mentioned above. The results were compared and conclusions were derived.
