摘要

The writers would like to thank the discusser for his interest in our original paper (Jawad et al. 2020) and the time and effort taken to compose his discussion. The discussion also provides the writers with an opportunity to clarify a couple of issues.First, we would like to make clear that through laboratory model tests, our paper mainly investigated the effects of the pile location behind the mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall facing on the lateral load capacity and displacement of the pile, the displacement of the wall facing, the strains in the geogrid layers, and the lateral earth pressures behind the wall facing. In addition, our paper developed a relationship between the pile head displacement and the maximum wall facing displacement based on the results from the laboratory model and field tests.
