MIT Food Technology: The Major Driver for Food Technology for 50 Years

[Editor's note: This letter highlights an online Virtual Issue of JFS collecting 20 of the editor's choice of JFS papers written by MIT researchers. Officially MIT Food Technology did not extend into the 21st century, nor did we actually reach back far into the 19th. But the run between the depression years of the early 1930s into the boom times of 1986 was one of the outstanding half centuries in the chronicles of food technology. The students, faculty, and staff of Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Dept. of Food Technology and its immediate antecedents and oddly named successors comprise what we immodestly regard as some of greatest contributors to our discipline that ever were.
