Communicating to citizens the benefits, harms and risks of preventive interventions

Acceptance and adoption of preventive interventions by the individuals who comprise 'society' is dependent on the honesty, knowledge, understanding and skill of information providers. They must deploy their art to bridge the gap to the science of evidence-based medicine that should underpin any public health intervention. They should be independent, disinterested and impartial if they are to achieve informed choice from the individuals who comprise society, to properly fulfil Winslow's vision for preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health.
